Port Macquarie Soprano
Nina
Mestric had worked for over seven months on the very
demanding role of Principal singer for the
'Haydn True' concerts held on Mothers Day weekend.
Born in Sydney, Nina Mestric has
enjoyed music from an early age. After performing in choirs throughout
primary and high school she completed her BA Music degree majoring in
singing with repertoire including musical theatre, classical and Lieder.
After making Port Macquarie home, Nina joined the Hastings Choristers’
ladies group Cantabile, performing at many concerts and taking on solo
parts with her lovely soprano voice. She studies singing with voice
teacher Robyn Ryan.
Nina loved the opportunity to showcase her vocal expertise along with the added
challenges of being part of a quartet singing alongside the
chorus and being accompanied by an orchestra. "It was great fun" she said "and I love being part of a small vocal
ensemble like this quartet - the other three have such lovely
voices - it was wonderful, and the choir sounded
sensational too".
Although Haydn's 'Missa in
Angustiis' was written for choir and vocal quartet the part composed for
soprano requires great vocal stamina and energised singing with
many quick semiquaver passages requiring advanced vocal technique.
Concert patrons thrilled to the
sound of Nina's voice along with all the other beautiful voices for this
amazing work in the resonant acoustic of the Port Macquarie Baptist Church.
