Choristers has a tradition of participating in exciting musical ventures
with Australian composers visiting Port
Macquarie to conduct their cutting edge compositions. A virtual newcomer to our
area, Harley Mead is a well-known young Australian composer who
is Head of Performance at Towoomba Grammar School, and a much sought-after
composer of accessible choral and instrumental music.
Harley
composed a new work for SATB chorus, commissioned by Sydney Grammar
Schools’ Preparatory campuses at St Ives and Edgecliff, which was premiered in this concert by the Edgecliff and St Ives campus
choirs, Tacking Point Public School’s Bel Canto and our own Cantorus.
It has the theme of multicultural Australia - people fleeing their homelands to
make their home here UNDER ONE SKY, presented through choral and
instrumental music.
