The fourth Hastings Choral Festival 2006, A Weekend of Song, was held on the 6th and 7th of May, with over 150 singers from across NSW and interstate participating.

An amazing group of professional musicians shared both their skills and love of music with the Festival participants.

Workshop themes and presenters in 2006 were:
Music Theatre – That song has words
Pat Wilson
His Bach’s worse than his bite 
Christopher Shepard
Sing out Gospel    
Tony Backhouse & Heavenly Lights
Gregorian chant demystified
 Neil McEwan
Swinging singing
 Irene Bartlett

 

Renowned Sydney-based gospel trio, Heavenly Lights, had the audience on their feet during their inspirational concert on the Saturday evening.

Sunday’s finale, the Festival Concert showcased five mid north coast local choirs and culminated in a spectacular performance by the Festival massed choir that involved all 150 participants on stage together singing;

Hosanna (in Gregorian chant style
Hodie (in Gregorian chant style
Chorale
Prayer Wheel Turning Over!

The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive and is summed up by one participant who stated that, “It was the best experience I have ever had in singing!”.
